Graduation big league style

IMG_4887

The party of the century has come and gone! A few weeks ago I made the long trek home to Ohio for my little cousin Kaylee’s graduation party (obviously she is not so little anymore). The thing that you should know about my family is that they don’t do anything small, they don’t do anything quietly and they certainly don’t do anything unless it involves lots and lots of alcohol.  This party has been in the works for the last year and lets just say if you missed it, you missed a good one.  This has been the hardest post I’ve ever done, one because I was sick as a dog when I got home, and two because I wanted to put up every photo because there are so many that make me laugh. I narrowed it down to these and I tried to put up a decent representation of the people that were there. However, hindsight is always twenty twenty and looking back there are so many more photos I would have taken. I managed to miss whole sections of my family, so if any of you have any great photos that you would like to see included please send them my way.

I have a story about the dancing….I think there must be a dancing gene in my family. For the record, it skipped me! No seriously when people say, “come on, everyone can dance,” and pull me out on the floor it only takes a few seconds before they are saying, “wow, now look at that you really can’t dance can you? I’ve never met anyone who honestly couldn’t dance. Are you sure you are a Dobbins?” This is why I take photos, to avoid the dancing. So anyways all it took was one round of, “We Are Family” to get most everyone up and out of their seats but things got a little crazy when “Love Shack” came on. At one point I looked around and there was someone I’m related to dancing on near about every hard surface of this deck. All I could think to myself was that I was in a bad, grown-up version of high school musical but oh well, they had fun.

My mom has three sisters and somehow my Aunt Debbie ended up in a lot of my pictures. She must have been making the rounds because here she is with my Aunt Marcia and my Uncle Chuck and again below with her Friday night dinner and wine  group.

In case you can’t tell this is my mom and I.

My grandma may have to be one of the nicest people on earth. I fonld out this past week that she is also one of the coolest grandma’s around.

There is this game call cornhole (I swear that is what it is called…because believe me I said the same thing you just did when I heard it’s name.) Apparently it is incredibly popular in Ohio because I saw bar tournaments for it and they were playing it at the grad party. I felt so old, I was out of the loop.

The party turned into a dual celebration for my cousin’s other grandma who turned 85 and yes, like I said we do it big so they managed to put in 85 candles.

I guess these hooligans below could be called my great aunts, but let me tell you that great means only that and certainly not old. These guys could drink an entire frat house under the table.

I bet you would never guess that these guys are all related? Imagine for me if you will trying to round up a bunch of wild chickens to take a nice group portrait. This is kinda what it’s like trying to round up all my family members for a picture. We won’t even talk about what’s it’s like to get them to stop talking and look in the same direction. They don’t have a problem with the smiling though.

These are all my not so little cousins and me. Pete, Kaylee, me and Cassie. I think that other than one  other picture this may be the only picture that i have with Kaylee from the actual grad party. Kinda sad considering this was her party.

This is Morgan. She is one of my cousin’s best friends and neighbors and it’s hard to image that she is all grown up now. I remember when Morgan was like 2 ft tall.  I promised her that at some point in time I would write an entire blog about her and I’ll keep my promise….hahahaha I didn’t promise to use current photos though and I know I have some real doozies.

As the party wound to a close we decided to pull out the old Family Feud tapes. For those of you that don’t know my family made 5 appearances on the show back in the 90’s. They are always good for a laugh. How about my mom walks in the room and sees herself on TV and says, “OMG is this on television right now? What a crazy coincidence!” Yes mom, yes it was a crazy coincidence that this happened to be on.
